European Mobility Debate 2007
The European Mobility Debate is new event for professionals in the
mobility field. The debate was organized by Motability, the Department
for Transport and the Forum of Mobility Centres and
took place in London at 11 - 12 October 2007. For the first
time senior people from governments at national
and european levels, the automotive industry and vehicle adaptation and
conversion specialists were brought together to discuss the
automobility of EU-citizens with special needs.

The CAPI initiative was presented and well percieved by the
participants of the debate. Standards were seen as positive
contribution to enhance the mobility of EU-citizens with special needs.
In the discussion afterwards it was stated that if
industry comes up with a good standard, this could be used in
EU regulation.

The Portare group presented their activities with respect to the
European Handbook of Driving Assessment. The participants of the debate
were impressed about the work and enthousiastic about
the impact it can have on the mobility of disabled persons
throughout the European Union.
